Lollo & Bernie

Lollo & Bernie are the mascots of Nordic Leisure Travel Group and our most important brand drivers for reaching families with children.

They help us build awareness, increase brand knowledge, and create loyalty. As brand drivers, the giraffe Lollo and the bear Bernie also play a key role in delivering on our strategy for profitable growth. Research shows that they are an important factor in the booking stage. Among family customers, an accumulated 85.3% say they choose Ving, Spies, or Tjäreborg because Lollo & Bernie are present at the family hotels. Their primary target group is children aged 3–7, although children of all ages interact with Lollo & Bernie. Their presence is always valued — whether at our hotels in destination, at events back home, or across digital channels, from social media to Spotify. 

Lollo & Bernie are deeply connected to the story and heritage of Nordic Leisure Travel Group and have been loved by generations of children. Today, Lollo & Bernie are much more than just physical mascots. Together, we have created a unique universe for both children and adults to explore—one that inspires play, curiosity, and creativity. Our mission is to create lasting memories for families at home, on holiday, and throughout their journey of exploring the the world.

In order to broaden the Lollo & Bernie brand we have established some important partnerships. 

  • Rights & Brands has been our licensing agent since 2019. Their role is to act as an intermediary between us as a brand and potential licensees. They support our growth and guide us with insights and trends. 
  • True Stories are an important partner in the development of physical brand environments. Among other things, they have been involved in creating Lollo & Bernie’s playroom, “Solens land”, at Quality Hotel Strawberry Arena, Stockholm’s largest hotel. 
  • Universal Music is also a strategic partner. They support us in creating and distributing new Lollo & Bernie music, as well as managing our YouTube channel. 
  • To to reach out to families back home, we currently operate at six permanent Lollo & Bernie hotels in collaboration with Quality Hotel/Strawberry Hotels. Three are located in Sweden (Gothenburg – The Weaver, Malmö – View, and Stockholm – Strawberry Arena), two in Norway (Langesund – Skjærgården and Sarpsborg), and one in Denmark – Frederikshavn, Quality Hotel™ The Reef. Each summer, we also host a Lollo & Bernie tour, visiting additional Quality Hotel locations across Sweden and Norway.

….Lollo became our mascot back in 1976 but was first seen only as a drawing. It was not until 1990 that she first appeared as a live mascot. That same year, Bernie joined her, marking the beginning of a true success story. 

…Lollo & Bernie’s dance school, which was published on YouTube in 2012, has today amassed over 46 million views. 

…Bernie was named after the former CEO of Sunwing Family Resorts, Claes Bernhard with the nickname “Bernie”.
